I'm not exactly at home, but I'm with my mom and dad. They're divorced, but are still great friends. They spend a lot of time together and even sleep in the same bed.
It feels good to be reunited with them as well as Teddy Ruxpin, a dog I rescued from an estate in Essex. I flew him over to the States in 2008.
As expected my parents at a lot of questions about my boyfriend (who didn't make it this trip)
- "Where was he living before you two moved in?"
- "Where did you meet?"
- "Does he have a criminal record?"
I spent today shopping at TJ Maxx and Old Navy. I ended up leaving my bank card in an ATM machine which was a real hassle. In the UK you can't get your money until you take your card back. Here in the US, many machines hand you your money first, then it gives you back your card. In that instance, I forgot to take my card back. I realized I ad forgotten my card a half hour later. I went racing to the bank and it was gone.
I asked inside the bank if anyone had turned it in. They said no, but said the ATM was equipped with a security device-- if you forget to take your card the machine waits a few minutes then swallows it. The machine was due to be serviced an hour from then, but they wouldn't be able to release my card unless my bank faxes over a letter approving the first bank to release my card to me.
Since it was about 6PM GMT and because HSBC is sort of a shitty bank I figured there was no chance in that happening. It turns out that luck was on my side as someone turned in the card later that day.
OK, my mom is yelling at me to get off the computer now so I better go.
